Luscious lips: Death to Dry, Chapped Lips!

Luscious lips: Death to Dry, Chapped Lips!

Hallo mes amis! It’s been a minute, I apologize for going AWOL on y’all just had a lot on my plate… I hope I’m forgiven? (I love you too :*).Today, I shall be talking about Dry lips and simple ways to win the battle.

No matter how “posh” you are, we’ve all (or still do) suffer(ed) from parched, chapped, dry lips at one (or several points) in our lives. I know what will be going through your mind: ‘thank heavens for lip-balm!’ but, is lip-balm truly the answer?  Studies show that lip-balm may not necessarily be the answer to cure chapped lips.

*cricket chirps*

Some argue that lip-balm have addictive properties (which is actually false) but truth is some of them do contain certain ingredients that actually makes your lips dryer, leading to an extended and frequent use of the product (and btw, more income for the production company). If you favor lip-balms, avoid those with added scents or flavor, which may irritate the lips. Go for something natural, with petroleum jelly.

My Take:

Break your addiction to lip balm! They are several ways to achieve a luscious lip without lip-balm.

The Baby Method:

Buy a children’s toothbrush with a really soft head, dip it in some Vaseline (petroleum jelly), and scrub the be-devil out of your lips. It’ll get rid of rough patches while moisturizing the rest.

The Olive (Petroleum Jelly) Mix:

Get a sizable ball of cotton wool, Olive-oil (or Petroleum Jelly) and Brown Sugar. Mix Olive Oil (or P. Jelly) with brown sugar in a small container, load some unto the cotton wool and scrub your lips till all dry layers are off.

Ready-made Lip Exfoliators:

If you can’t do any of the above, just get a Lip Exfoliator- e.g. Elf Studio Lip Exfoliator (infused with Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado, Grape and Jojoba Oil). Got mine from www.thedfstore.com, or you go to www.eyeslipsface.com. It smells like a mixture of vanilla and caramel, tastes like sugar…in one word, awesome! and other budget-friendly lip exfoliators.

The positive perk about exfoliating your lips is that it not only clears out the dry layers, it moisturizes and revives your lips.

Enfin, do not forget to hydrate! Drink loads of water, as this will ensure that your lips get moisture from the inside out. And stay AWAY from licking your lips!! It actually worsens dryness.

P.S:  A properly exfoliated lips allows for smooth lipstick/ lip-gloss application, making your pout game stronger!!

Bisous!
