Transformation Monday: From Ekaette to Madamé Alakija

Transformation Monday: From Ekaette to Madamé Alakija

Its been far too long since I blogged, blame it on NYSC, relocation & shenanigans…I’m sorry, I’ve missed blogging & I am back!

For my foreign readers: I’m Nigerian; so I reckon some of y’all will be kinda lost as per the meaning of this Article’s headline: “Transformation Monday: From Ekaette to Madamé Alakija”, let me explain.

In Nigeria,

Ekaette = House help (cleaner, maid), poor

Mdé Alakija = Oil Tycoon, The Richest Black Woman in the World (sorry Oprah W.) (Google if you have to)

Now that’s out of the way, you and I know that makeup can be used to make you feel/look better than you actually are (or your Bank Account balance truly is ???); aka MAKEUP IS THERAPEUTIC! (agree or agree ?)

Think not? Let me show you.

Step A:

Bare faced (sans maquillage)

Start with a clean face

(Didn’t get much sleep ??)

Step B:

Moisturize/Prime face & lips

Suffering from eye bags & under-eye dark circles like I am? Don’t fret.

NB: to eliminate eye-bags, rest properly; when you wake up, rub ice-cubes over them (trust me, it helps); For the Dark circles use  a Color Correcting Concealer Pallet. Red-hued (concealer) works like magic.

Here, I’m using Nyx Angel Veil on my face & Pump-It-Up lipgloss to moisturize ze lips.

Step C:

Fill in brows.

BH Cosmetics Brow Defining Kit (Dark), Nyx Brow Mascara (Espresso), Nyx Conceal, Correct Pallet (to clean out).

Step D:
Apply foundation. Starting from the centre of your face, work your way outward. Use a buffing/stippling brush preferably (it helps the foundation sit properly).

Step E:

Contour & Highlight.

Nyx Conceal, Correct, Contour Pallet (Deep).

Mixed the 1st & 3rd Quad to highlight and 5th Quad to contour.

in natural light

BLEND, BLEND, BLEND!!!!

PS: not everyone should Contour & Highlight exactly like I do. I’ll explain how-to for different faces & nose shapes soon…in a video (YouTube, here we come).

Step F:
Set & Bake

Ben Nye Luxury Powder (Banana), apply with a cosmetic wedge or Beauty Blender

Next, go over the cream contour with a Contour Powder.

Apply Blush.

Apply a Highlighter (Luminizing Bronzer): above the cheekbone, down the bridge of the nose, Cupid’s Bow, dust on the Forehead (skip if you have a big forehead), & Brow bone.

PS: be careful in applying all the shiny sturvs

Basically,

Step G:

Finish up Eye & Lip makeup

I opted for a natural look.

Eye:

Milani Eye tech Extreme Liner

Waterline: Nyx  Jumbo Pencil in Milk

Maybelline Colossal Mascara

Tearduct: Sephora IT Spectrum Pallete in Luminous Nude

Lips:

ELF lipstick in Prime Plum

Face:

Zaron Powder in ZZ30

This is basically how to pull off looking like a  million dollars!

Got these products from TheDFstore

Finalement,

I hope you find this helpful.

God bless.
